The Vassal Book is one of the Eight Vassal Weapons from Glass' World. The person who possesses the weapon is called the Book Hero. The book holds a blue gem that can absorb materials and the ability to transform into, presumably, other book-based forms. The current Book Hero is Ethnobalt.

Overview[]

The Vassal Book is traditionally held by the Master Librarian of the library rabbits but this is not always the case. The Vassal Book was first seen in the possession of Kyo Ethnina. At first, it seemed like Kyo was a suitable fit for the weapon, however, Kyo was a vanguard of the waves and eventually used the Vassal Book to try to destroy worlds. As a result, the Vassal Book despised Kyo and tried to resist him. Eventually, Naofumi and the other heroes were able to defeat Kyo and liberate the Vassal Book. The Vassal book then floated away and even played back Kyo describing his evil plan to leaders of the Label.

During the Heroes' fight against Miyaji, the Vassal Book and the Vassal Mirror appeared just in time to save Naofumi and Itsuki's lives. Both weapons tried to make Naofumi their wielder but only the Vassal Mirror was successful. Then the Vassal Book flew away to find its new wielder. It eventually selected Ethnobalt as its new wielder and led him to the fight. With the two new Vassal Weapons, the heroes were successfully able to defeat Miyaji and his companions.

Power-up Method[]

The power-up method for the Vassal Book is "Revised Edition". By picking up a rarer version of a currently existing weapon form, you can scan its ‘rarity tag’, a numeral code unique to that weapon, and upgrade the weapon form with its new stats and, to a lesser degree, appearance. The rarer the version of the weapon form, the more powerful it is.

Skill Description Unlocked Book
Composition Form One: Bird of Flame The pages of the Vassal Book gather into one place, transforms into a flaming bird before shooting towards the target. ?

Redacted Skill A flutter of pages creating strong shockwave that expands from the user. This skill is for some reason not written in OPB's translation of Volume 7. A possible name for this skill considering how Vassal Book skills are usually translated would be, Composition Form Five: Blast Line. ?
Unnamed Flying Page Attack The Vassal Book launches a stream of pages to cut into the target. This skill apparently did have a name in the Japanese version of the novel, and a possible name for the skill considering how Vassal Book skills are usually translated would be, Formation One: Form One. ?
Composition of Flame This skill summons a roaring flame in the shape of a demon. This flame then charges toward the target. ?
Unnamed Yuki-onna formed Ice Skill This skill summons freezing ice in the shape of a Yuki-onna which charges towards the target. This skill is supposed to come after the skill Composition of Flame where it charges towards the target from behind. The anime has it depicted to be part of the skill Composition of Flame. It was mistranslated as Swords of Ice. ?
Flame Formation: Magic Explosion A skill that turns an opponent's magic power into flames that fall from their body, leaving their SP nearly drained. ?
Rot Formation: Magic Explosion A skill that turns an opponent's magic power into murky winds that form with their body as the epicenter. ?
Light Formation: Force Explosion An ability that uses the enemy's attack power and creates blades of light that damage them. ?
Libraria Turns the surroundings into a white room, and the user can bombard an opponent with many kinds of magical attacks from every angle. Summoning birds made of lightning and fire, energy beams, and boulders all at once. ?
Composition Four: Constriction A cage emerges from the pages of the Vassal Book which can ensnare its targets. Pipe Book?
Continuation: False Ceiling A continuation of Constriction. Needles grow on the ceiling of the cage which then rains down on the captured targets. Animal Needle Book?
Composition Eight: Divine Punishment A skill which fires lightning from the book's pages which hones in on targets. ?
Forbidden Composition: Revelation An ability from the Vassal Book curse series. The user fires feathers from his book, which then all release small energy beams that come together and form one big black energy beam to fire at an opponent. Some feathers can also be used to heal the user's wounds. In the anime, this skill summons evil-looking wings that give the user the ability to fly and summon a powerful beam of energy. Curse Book
Paper Splits Rock: Explode A paper that lights up before exploding, knocking anyone away from the source of the explosion. ?
Life Force Style Magic Explosion A combination of a Vassal Book skill and Hengen Muso style. Pages from the book encase and circulate life energy the target. Since the target is encased, the life energy has no place of exit and bounces around causing more damage. ?
