Appearance[]

He wore a samurai-like armor over what appears to be a school uniform, likely indicating he was new to Glass' world as he'd yet to acquire better gear. He also had his hair pulled back into a ponytail.[1]

Personality[]

Kazuki is in a near constant state of greed, displaying an insatiable need for power and authority over others. He is a self-proclaimed genius, blatantly arrogant, and always boastful about his accomplishments. This denotes a want to be special and better than everyone around him. His level was unknown, but he boasted it to be very high. At the very least, his good qualities are his kindness to his harem. He chases women all the time.

Abilities[]

Magic[]

Kazuki is adept with magic, as he was able to cast several spells without any verbal chant or proclamation. However, the lack of this chant meant that his spells were less potent than those cast with a chant included. He is also able to use a wide variety of magical elements such as fire, water, wind, and light.[2]

  • Fireball: It forms a giant ball of fire that can be hurled at the opponent.
  • Healing: It is magic that is able to heal minor injuries on the target.

Weapon Skills[]

Although he didn't obtain the Vassal Katana, Kazuki was a decent swordsman who specialized in the use of a katana-type blade.

Background[]

He was an alchemist and always works on revolutionary inventions. He was mentioned to be a genius who made many remarkable inventions to stop the misery of the people. Additionally, he always chased after the woman trying to meddle in their affairs. Later on, he was mentioned to have researched on homunculus. The truth to any of these claims, save for his desire for women, remain questionable.

Chronology[]

Volume 8[]

Kazuki developed a way to duplicate the dragon hour glass teleportation power of the four holy heroes and celebrated his success in the country where Kizuna was imprisoned. He witnessed Kizuna's attempt to reach the dragon hourglass and tried to stop her, but was interrupted by the intervention of Naofumi. Naofumi surprised him with his tactics and managed to escape, but not before enraging Trash #2 for his first defeat in his life.[1]

Afterward, Trash #2 traveled to a neighboring country where the Vassal Katana was revealed to be stuck, like the sword in the stone. Just before Trash #2 was able to attempt taking the Vassal Katana, publicly declaring himself it's owner, it flew out of the stone into Raphtalia's hands. Enraged, he began calling Raphtalia a thief and started chasing her along with Glass, L'Arc, and Therese. During the chase, they met up with Naofumi, Rishia, Filo, Raph-chan, and Kizuna who were tracking them. After everyone's reunion, Trash #2 attacks them with copies of the White Tiger Protective Beast.[3][2] The battle went relatively quick with Trash #2 relying on the power of the White Tiger copies while his own attacks were shown to be basic and predictable. Unable to accept defeat despite being wounded, Trash #2 stands up in defiance of his foes. Reluctantly, Raphtalia kills him to stop his rampages.[4]

Volume 9[]

Following Kazuki's death, Naofumi hypothesizes that after Trash #2 was killed, the spirit women of his group had chased his soul.[5] When Naofumi and his group later explore Kyo's laboratory, they find Trash #2 is still dead but floating in a tank of liquid. It appeared that Kyo used Kazuki for research, as evident with the other tanks around him were filled with homunculi, many of which looked like Trash #2. The homunculi then broke out of their tubes, morphing into copies of the Protective Beasts, and attacked Naofumi's group.[6] All of the heroes worked together to destroy Trash #2 and the homunculi.[7] The flames from Kyo's attacks on the heroes eventually burned away Trash #2's body, leaving nothing of Kazuki behind.

After some investigation, it turns out that Naofumi's hypothesis about the spirit women was correct, as they found the spirit women's bodies. Kyo had also fed Trash #2's soul to some Soul Devourers before using the body for his homunculi experiments.[8]

Relationships[]

Heroes
  • Kyo Ethnina: There are many similarities between them that both of their comrades and Naofumi couldn't ignore. L'Arc, a good judge of character, described them to be two peas in a pod.
  • Naofumi Iwatani: Nafoumi immediately disliked him for he reminded him of Kyo.
Companions
  • Tsugumi: Tsugumi was with him, since her childhood and stood by his side even in his questionable deeds.

Trivia[]

  • In the light novel and manga it was a running joke that Naofumi never got the chance to learn Trash #2's name. In the anime however, he is named Kazuki and is never referred to as Trash II. That said, Kazuki is a play on 「カス Kasu」, which can be translated to various unflattering words such as "dregs", "junk" and "scum".
  • In the light novel Trash #2 is hinted to be working with Kyo with their similar areas of research. However, he fully admits it in the anime.
