The Legendary Spear is one of four Legendary Weapons within Raphtalia's World. The current wielder is Motoyasu Kitamura.

Overview[]

The Legendary Spear, also known as the Spear Spirit of the Legendary Weapon. The spirit is from another world prior to being summoned to another world alongside with it's chosen Candidate, the Legendary Spear is one of four Legendary Weapons present in the world of which Naofumi currently resides in. The candidates of the weapon have been given the title of Spear Hero, whom they are generally addressed as so by the locals.

The current candidate of the Legendary Spear is Motoyasu Kitamura. He was selected by the Spear Spirit as a backup candidate, which meant prior to being summoned he would have some serious characteristic problems.

Each of the Legendary Weapons also has two primary vassal weapons that work in tangent with them. In the case of the Spear, its two primary vassals are the Vassal Staff and the Vassal Projectile.^[1]

Power-up Method[]

As a Legendary Weapon, the Legendary Spear has three power-up methods. As of Volume 19, all of its power-up methods are known.

Smelting [精練 Seiren (lit. Refinement)]: You can strengthen weapons by using ores. Every time you do so, the weapon gains a +1, starting from +1 when you succeed your fist attempt, to +2 on the second and so on. This has a chance of failure that increases each successful attempt and if it fails, the weapon's "Smelting" goes back to 0.
Spirit Enchantment [スピリットエンチャント Supiritto Enchanto (lit. Spirit Enchant)]: Items or pieces of monsters' souls that have been absorbed into a weapon can be used to imbue the weapon with special powers, such as Usapil Damage -10% or Water Damage -5%. This has no chance of failure-maybe.
Status Enchantment [ ステータスエンチャント Sutētasu Enchanto (lit. Status Enchant)]: Absorbed items or pieces of monsters' souls can also be used to imbue a weapon form with a status boost that increases one of the stats it has, such as a boost to its attack or magic or defence. The given status boost, along with which stat it applies to, is random. It might have no chance to fail.^[2]

Rising Dragon Spear	There are no descriptions for this skill, though it does sound really similar to Street Fighter's Shoryuken, so maybe it's an upward stab powered by a jump. Although, based on similar abilities from other weapons, this ability is probably like the Legendary Sword's Dragon Buster or a more effective ability against dragons.	?
Paralyze Spear	Inflicts paralyzed condition on enemies who have been hit by this skill.	?
Windmill	The user spins their spear in circles to repel incoming attacks. It also produces a tornardo as it is swung around to blow away any attackers.	?

State of Selflessness	A counter skill where the spear reflects attacks back to their user in form of spears of light.	?
Piercing Shot	Unleashed a burst of energy from the tip of the spear. This skill likely has defense-ignoring or defense-rating abilities.	?

Aiming Lancer	This ability allows the user to control the spear in the air in exchange for damage power. It can generate slightly more power than Air Strike Javelin and is almost guaranteed to hit all targets. When the skill is used against multiple targets, the spear splits into multiple beams of light that are directed at each target.	?
Illusion Lance	Inflicts an illusion onto the target.	?
