Naofumi Iwatani[]

While Naofumi was ultimately Fohl's dear sister's savior, Fohl was ultimately antagonistic towards Naofumi. This was mainly driven by Fohl's sister-complex and Atla's repeated rampages and advances towards Naofumi. Since he saw his sister as perfect, he considered Naofumi an enemy who was trying to harm his dear sister. Anything Naofumi said towards Atla, positive or negative, was seen from the worst possible perspective. However, as Fohl slowly matured, he started cooperative with Naofumi and started seeing him in a better light.

Ironically, the main event which help strengthen the bond between Naofumi and Fohl was Atla's death and sacrifice to save Naofumi. In his grief, Fohl promised to not blame Naofumi for her death which her continued to live up to. Instead, they both blamed Takt for her death and they worked together to get revenge.

After Atla's death, Naofumi's mental state was unstable. During that time, A depressed Naofumi asked Fohl if he could sleep in bed with him to cope with her loss, a request that was rejected. Due to this incident, Naofumi has to live with the long-term consequences since Fohl has become wary and untrusting of Naofumi. Though, after Naofumi spoke with Sadina, the two of of them make amends.

Raphtalia[]

Fohl considers Raphtalia to be like a big sister. Unfortunately, her physical appearance may look older to him but her age is much younger to him. He respects her and does what she asks of him.

Aultcray Melromarc XXXII[]

After Fohl and Atla reach Melromarc castle for the first time, it is revealed that their mother was Aultcray's believed-dead sister. Atla is the splitting image of her sister, albeit demi-human while Fohl resemble much like Aultcray hated enemy Tyran (who's son married Aultcray's sister). Aultcray showed hatred towards Fohl before he came to notice Atla. Atla who uses her sixth sense to see (because of her being blind), couldn't differentiate her Brother and Aultcray, she ask why there is too of her brother.

Aultcray tried to approach Atla, to verify if her mother is in fact his sister, But Fohl jumped in and shielded his sister from Aultcray. This reminded Aultcray much of his own action in the past of protecting his sister. He advised Folh to protect his sister otherwise he will regret throughout his life.

After Aultcray was re-awakened, he treats Fohl with respect and Fohl does likewise. He went as far as o give his daughter Melty's hand in marriage, if the Nafoumi rejected Melty. Aultcray indeed showed his care for his nephew. But, Fohl find it awkward and tried to avoid him as much as he can.

Takt Alsaholn Faubrey[]

Takt is the one responsible for Atla's death. Therefore, Fohl had a strong hatred and did his best to get his revenge. Fohl was eventually able to get his revenge which included beating Takt to a pulp.

Family[]

Atla Fayon[]

Atla is Fohl's dearly beloved sister and only remaining family member. When their father and mother died, it was his responsibility to pay for the expensive medicine needed to treat her illness. They stripped everything of their mansion and eventually sold themselves as slaves to pay for it. Fohl then fought in the coliseum to pay for the medicine. During this time, Fohl started developing a sister-complex where she is perfect and that he must protect her from all harm at all costs.

When Naofumi bought Fohl and Atla, Fohl was willing to serve Naofumi eternally in order to treat Atla's illness. When her genetic disorder was cured permanently, he was shocked and overwhelmed with joy. He then reaffirmed his promise to Naofumi. However, his sister-complex got him in trouble often. Atla's advances towards Naofumi were considered Naofumi's fault and eventually, Atla became so powerful in her use in Hengen Muso that Fohl could no longer control her. For the first time, he was the useless one of the two siblings and her resolved to get stronger. Slowly, he matured and started getting over his sister-complex. He was finally convinced by Raphtalia to keep Atla's rampages under control and when it came time for the village to fight against the Phoenix, he eventually let her choose to join (after an intense battle between the two).

Unfortunately, Fohl maturing resulted in the death of her sister. After she was allowed the join the battle against the Phoenix, Atla sacrificed herself to save Naofumi and the rest of the Heroes against a deadly explosion. Fohl was utterly devastated at Atla's death but this grew his resolve to get stronger which ultimately let him become the wielder of the Vassal Gauntlet.
