Escape (脱出 Dasshutsu?) is the sixty-fifth chapter of The Rising of the Shield Hero manga adaptation.
Synopsis[]
Kizuna and Naofumi have come up with an idea that could help them escape from the Infinite Labyrinth. They must exceed the structure's monster capacity to break out of this prison. But how will they be able to control monsters in the already dangerous Labyrinth? The Shield Hero must escape the Infinite Labyrinth to reunite with his party and defeat Kyo for good.
Summary[]
Kizuna theorizes that the Infinite Labyrinth's spatial 'stitching' may be vulnerable but the problem is how to exploit it to escape. She suggests that previous monsters have escaped when they surpass the capacity of the structure that holds them.
From previous experience, Kizuna suspects that each zone has checks to ensure that a certain level of monsters is maintained. Over the years, these monsters grow if they are not killed. Curious, Naofumi asks how old Kizuna is. When Kizuna guesses that she is around 18, she gets angry as Naofumi nearly calls her a loli baba. Unfortunately, irregularities which eject monsters from the Infinite Labyrinth rarely happen and Naofumi cannot afford to wait for the next incident. With an idea, he asks Kizuna to take him to the smallest room in the Labyrinth
When they reach the room, Naofumi pulls out a few BioPlant seeds. Naofumi is too low a level to modify the plants so he passes them to Kizuna to give the seeds wild growth abilities. Kizuna tosses the modified seed in the room and they leave to protect themselves from the rapidly growing plant. The BioPlant is growing so out of control that is leaving the confines of the room which is unusual for monsters of this world. Looking back into the room, the giant plant is bugged out and being transported through a portal. Kizuna, Naofumi, and Rishia jump through the portal.
Suddenly, the three adventurers find themselves falling in a new world from high in the sky. Naofumi uses his air strike shield to temporarily stop their fall. Soon after, the air strike shield skill disappears and Kizuna uses her fishing line to stop them inches before the ground. Beside them, the BioPlant falls to the ground and starts to grow. Naofumi and Kizuna quickly use herbicide to kill the plant before it causes a disaster. The portal to the Infinite Labyrinth disappears.
Taking a moment to look at their surroundings, Kizuna rejoices at her long-awaited freedom. She is happily able to confirm that they are in the world she was summoned to although they are currently in an enemy country. Naofumi checks Raphtalia and Filo's slave crests to find that they are still not working. Kizuna suggests that they may have gone through some changes as well when they were transported to this world. Naofumi, Rishia, and Kizuna head out to look for them.
